  3. Press Add page numbers and download the numbered PDF.

About this tool

Reports, contracts and merged bundles are much easier to discuss when every page has a number. This tool prints the number straight onto the page in a clean standard font, and it copes with pages that are rotated.

A common workflow is to merge your files first and number the result, so the sequence runs through the whole bundle. Use the "only these pages" box to skip a cover page, for example by entering 2-40.

Good to know

  • Numbers are added as normal page content. They cannot be edited later except in a PDF editor.
  • Only Latin digits and letters are used.
  • Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first.

Add Page Numbers: frequently asked questions

Can I start numbering from a different number?

Yes. Set "Start numbering at" to any number, for example 0 to leave a cover page as page 0 or 5 for a document that continues an earlier one.

Can I skip the first page?

Yes. Enter a range such as 2-20 in "Only these pages" and the first page stays clean.

Can I get "Page 3 of 12" style numbering?

Yes. Choose the "1 of 10" style. It counts the total for the pages being numbered.
